I purchased it sometime in June of '98. I paid way too much for it, and screwed myself by not getting it professionally checked out first. After I signed the check, I started finding out all the problems that were not evident on the first couple look-overs.When I started the repairs, I got hooked in with a bad crowd, and started thinking "Performance" instead of "Stock". Now, when something goes bad, the GOOD stuff gets put in instead of stock parts nine times out of ten. This makes for expensive (but FUN) maintenance.
Just think - by the time I get done putting the 5K worth of work into this car, I will have a car that is worth 2K!!! wow - you can tell I have a long way to go towards my business major!
Update - 5/5/99 - This weekend I worked on it some more. I was sitting in my spare bedroom, looking at all these parts I had laying around... speakers, shocks, etc. I decided that I would just go ahead and start putting stuff together. I put the 2 10" subs in the box, wired them up, then went out to the car. I rotated the tires, the pulled the seats & carpet so I could run the speaker wire. This, like most other things car related, was the first time I ever installed an amplifier. It is still not done (drill ran out of juice) but I hooked up all the wiring to the head unit, then put (almost) everything back together. Now my car sits in the parking lot with an amp in the back seat, and a box full 'o subwoofers in the living room. I also pulled the cluster & adjusted the gauges to reflect the correct values.. finally. This weekend - finish hooking up the subs!
Oh - also, I am debating what to do with the corrado rear seat. I can't decide if I really want to spend the time/energy fitting something like that. The alternative idea I came up with is to pull all the padding & upholstery off the C's seats, then put it on the scirocco rear seats frames. There is a 4" difference in the widths of the seats, and I think it might be better for me in the long run if I just do it that way... who knows... who cares... I need a new job.Stuff I have done
