Update - 4/27/99 - I finally got the steering wheel in, damn USPS lost it for a month. It stinks, but hopefully a few months in my car will make it smell lovely again. I got a hold of some guy in San Antonio who is parting out 2 16v sciroccos, and he is bringing up the front & rear sways, a neuspeed upper tie, some new door panels and sun visors for the lovely price of 80$. I am happy. If I get time this weekend I am going to change out the suspension on my van.... the rocco has been getting too much love lately. I just noticed that my dreams, wants & needs lists have all gotten considerably shorter while my "have done" list keeps growing...  Oh - also in this week - wiper relay & new tensioner (again)

Update - 4/19/99 - Ok - here it is. Went down to the local Parts Yard. Man, I had FUN. This place is totally stocked with VW's. There must have been 3 Roccos, 4 jettas, 10-15 Golf/rabbits, and 10 Vanagons, not to mention a whole slew of Audi parts cars. Well I picked up front & rear seats out of a Coraddo G60 - they are PRISTINE! I swapped the seat-belts, and slapped them in this weekend, and all I can say is AAAAAAHHHH... not only is it now a comfortable car to drive, but it updated the look of the interior by about 10 years. It is so nice to not have those bolster bars poking my butt every time I get in the car.
Oh, I also totalled up all my receipts Sunday night.  I have spent $6,300 on this car so far (including the original price) - OUCH.

UPDATE - 4/14/99 - Alright - for now everything is more or less functional. I have hooked up everything I had, now it is time to save the $$$ for the next round of repairs. I hooked up the speedo wrong, so it is reading +15mph, and the tach is 200rpm low. The CV joint I just had replaced is going out and gear oil is leaking out the seal. The transmission needs some work, but not badly enough for me to fix it anytime soon.

4/6/99 - Update - Well, I fixed the oil leak - too easy... Got the gauges all working & installed, waiting on another part from the dealership to get it up & running.... Wednesday night I will have a fully functioning scirocco for the first time in 6 weeks... I like my van, but the thing just isn't intended for city driving.

3/30/99 - Update  - A busy man can still find time to work on his car... Last weekend I replaced all the shifter bushings, selector rods, installed the short-shift kit & weighted linkage, chopped the shifter, sanded & rust-proofed the battery tray, installed a new battery, took it out again, sat in my car & pretended it still ran.... This weekend I am going to grease the hell out of & align everything I put in last weekend, as soon as the shifter bottom rubber bootie thingie comes in.  I need to fix the stinking oil leak I got going.   A couple weeks ago I put the grey gauge faces in & painted the needles red - they look HOT!. I am waiting for a lightbulb so I can put the cluster back in.  I have a new visor thanks to Matt Markowicz on da list.  I have a momo leather knob, and will be getting a leather-wrapped steering wheel sometime this week.

3/11/99 - Update - Leaking, won't start, still waiting on transmission parts.......

3/1/99 - Update -  Allrighty - I haven't done a damn thing to the car in months except drive it.  The only things I have done are PCMS type stuff... except for the oil-cooler gasket.  The guy with the momo flaked out, the guy with the replacement rear-wing flaked out, I have flaked out on buying a 16v engine that is available.... I am just about ready to buy a short-shift kit, weighted rod & shift bushings.  Then we will see if I need a new transmission or not.  I have a big-ass speakerbox sitting in my apartment awaiting me to get off my lazy ass & put it in, as are the grey gauge faces.  I never got around to getting the body work done...............  I have just been driving the hell out of it

12/15/98 - Update - The stereo is IN!  I now have 4X6's in the back, 5.25 components in the front, and a CD deck.  I am awaiting the MOMO shift knob, and need to finish my finals so I have time to  put in the colored guage faces....

11/9/98 -  The car is in the shop... someday hopefully I will see it again.  I did some of the work myself.  I busted the neck on a fuel filter (THAT was exciting!) and got the cap & rotor in with no problems.  That is about the level of my technical knowledge.  While it is in the shop, it is going to get new CV joints, wheel bearings, the whole suspension thing, new drive belt...  Next stop is Dent Wiz.  I am going to take that ugly moulding off the sides first....
